About the Role:
The Morning Show is seeking an experienced full‑time Show Producer to join our national team with TMS 2.
Reporting to the Executive Producer, this role is ideal for a creative visionary with a passion for crafting smart, impactful live programming that engages and entertains.
The successful candidate will lead the daily broadcast production of The Morning Show, driving coverage of topical lifestyle content that resonates with our viewers.
This position is classified as Group 4 under the current Collective Agreement.

- Oversee daily production of The Morning Show, including building rundowns, writing, and vetting scripts and meeting critical deadlines.
- Take the show to air daily.
- Assist in determining the look, style, pace, lineup, and format of the show based on established criteria and values.
- Pitch, produce, and write content for The Morning Show.
- Be a strong collaborator with editorial team, show hosts and studio team.
- Monitor current lifestyle and topical news of interest to daytime viewers.
- Collaborate with fellow producers and writers to maintain Global News editorial standards.
- Plan, select, and request production and resource elements.
- Take to air live programs in a control room environment in a calm and decisive manner, while problem solving, troubleshooting, and striving to improve the program.
- Develop and maintain a network of contacts inside and outside Global News.
- Work with affiliates to coordinate coverage and resources.
- Work with the team to break and develop stories that drive the lifestyle news cycle – not just follow.
- Be able to change and adapt the live show in real time as stories break.
- Generate original and compelling story ideas.
- Display strong editorial judgement.
- Work to expand The Morning Show brand and viewership on all platforms.
- Be able to field produce items, remote segments, and special event coverage.
- Perform other duties as required.
Skills and experience you will bring:
- Post‑secondary degree or diploma in broadcast journalism or a related field.
- Ability to respond quickly and knowledgeably to breaking news.
- Applicants must have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in television broadcasting, preferably in a major market.
- Strong news writing skills and excellent news judgement.
- Exemplary leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to mentor and coach others.
- Diverse background in national news is considered an asset.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and maintain creativity in a high‑pressure, deadline‑oriented environment.
- Ability to handle the demands and pressure of broadcast deadlines.
- Ability to work well in a team setting.
- Comprehensive computer knowledge, including knowledge of leading‑edge newsroom management systems (e.g., ENPS) and editing programs.
- Demonstrate excellent writing and other TV production skills.
- Demonstrate a high comfort level providing clear constructive feedback.
- Possess strong organizational skills.
- Strong editorial judgement.
