Job Description & How to Apply Below
Position: Pro-Bono Music Publicist Wanted — Ethnosonic )

We’re Ethnosonic — a Toronto-based seven-piece ensemble and the world’s only duduk jazz fusion band
. In our first year we sold out headline concerts, broke tip records at Drom Taberna, performed at Hugh’s Room Live, released our debut album, and received an Ontario Arts Council grant. The foundation is built. Now we need a storyteller.

We’re looking for a passionate Music Publicist or PR Specialist to join our team in a pro-bono capacity with a clear growth path. This is a real role with real scope — not a favour, not an internship. We want someone who hears the music and wants to be part of something that doesn’t exist anywhere else in the world.

What you’ll own:
  • Pitch and secure coverage in music publications, blogs, and cultural media (North America + Europe)
  • Build and maintain a targeted media contact database across world music, jazz, and arts press
  • Write and distribute press releases for concerts, releases, and milestones
  • Pitch radio stations (community, college, CBC, public broadcasters abroad) for airplay and interview features
  • Coordinate and prep the band for press interviews and profile features
  • Develop and maintain the Electronic Press Kit (EPK)
  • Identify and pursue award submissions, grant nomination opportunities, and industry directory listings
  • Align PR timing with releases, festival submissions, and touring campaigns
  • Track coverage, compile press reports, and refine strategy based on results
Who we’re looking for:
  • Music PR professional between projects, or a recent/near-graduate in Music Business, Communications, or Journalism hungry to build a real world-music portfolio
  • Someone who listens to the music and gets it — our story writes itself, we just need someone to tell it
  • Self-driven, organized, comfortable with cold outreach
What you get:
  • A genuinely rare act with a globally unique story — duduk jazz fusion doesn’t exist anywhere else
  • Real credits, real press relationships, and a growing portfolio
