Your Role

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate pitches and development materials for creative strengths, series design, budget feasibility, audience appeal and creative risks.
  • Collaborate with producers, screenwriters and story executives to negotiate creative changes and provide constructive creative notes.
  • Track and manage multiple projects through the development cycle, maintaining clear, detailed written correspondence.
  • Participate in committee meetings, planning sessions, festivals and workshops; represent CBC at juries, panels and public functions.
  • Keep abreast of competing television programming, Canadian talent and industry trends; advise on potential and ongoing projects.
Qualifications
  • University degree or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience, including internships and learning spaces such as BIPOC workshops.
  • Strong knowledge of underrepresented communities across Canada; cultural awareness and sensitivity.
  • High creativity with the ability to provide imaginative and effective script feedback.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills when engaging producers, writers, directors and other creative personnel.
  • Ability to read and absorb large volumes of material while juggling multiple projects.
  • Understanding of screenwriting and post‑production processes to create clear and effective notes.
  • Knowledge of Canadian comedy series programming and industry trends.
  • Ability to work within a complex organization with initiative and flexibility.
  • Effective public speaking and representation skills.
