Senior Product Designer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Product Designer with a minimum of 5 years of UX and UI experience to join our client's team. In this role, you will be instrumental in building and maintaining a robust Design System and Figma components to support a premier self-directed investing platform.

The ideal candidate is a proactive, strategic thinker with a deep expertise in designing interaction and visual UI states for native mobile iOS and Android components. You will be a key contributor to our client's digital design efforts, taking a holistic view of the design lifecycle—from identifying needs and mitigating risks to collaborating closely with developers to ensure technical feasibility.

This is a six month contract which requires the talent to work onsite at our client's office in downtown Toronto 4 days per week.

• Design System Ownership: Lead the creation and maintenance of reusable components in Figma that can be scaled across the platform.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with developers to ensure designs align with platform standards and are technically feasible.
• Quality Assurance: Perform rigorous Design QA on final product implementations to ensure strict adherence to design specifications.
• Documentation & Governance: Write and maintain clear, concise documentation and publish design libraries in Figma to guide other designers in using system components effectively.
• Accessibility & Compliance: Ensure all new components meet WCAG standards for accessibility; adhere to device-level compliance, such as updating components for evolving hardware specifications (e.g., Apple's Liquid Glass).
• Visionary Execution: Translate conceptual ideas into compelling customer experiences, maintaining a balance between the "big picture" and meticulous detail.

• Experience: 5+ years of experience designing interactive experiences, specifically within UX and UI.
• Design System Expertise: Proven experience building, leading, and owning a design system and its components.
• Mobile Proficiency: Expert-level understanding of Responsive Web design and native Mobile Application design (Android and iOS).
• Tool Proficiency: Mastery of Figma and Adobe Creative Suite (including After Effects for animation, Illustrator for 2D/3D custom illustration, and InDesign for layout).
• Education: A degree in design or a design-related discipline (User-Centred Design, Visual Design, Product Design, etc.) or equivalent work experience.
• Communication: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to ask critical questions, communicate ideas to diverse audiences, and constructively integrate feedback.
• Portfolio: A strong portfolio that showcases a deep understanding of user-centred design principles and branding.
• Agile Methodology: Experience working within an Agile process.
• Prototyping: Skillsets to create high-fidelity prototypes, user flow diagrams, and storyboards.
• Technical Knowledge: General understanding of HTML/CSS and the ability to produce web-ready assets.
• Industry Interest: A personal interest or experience in self-directed investing is a plus.
