• Work with the assignment producer, news gathering teams, program leads, digital journalists, as well as videographers and video producers to deliver news coverage in the Greater Toronto Area.
• Chase daily news stories and identify possible angles, guests, follows and story treatments for all platforms.
• Help manage outlooks, shotlists and pitches.
• Edit video and audio
• Write quick, accurate stories in breaking news situations, as needed.

• University degree in journalism or equivalent with at least 2 years of practical and relevant experience.
• Demonstrated solid news judgment and a strong understanding of the CBC’s Journalistic Standards and Practices.
• Extensive experience working in an assignment role.
• Strong contributor of story, guest and treatment ideas.
• The ability to plan ahead and help effectively organize news coverage for multiple platforms.
• High level of organization and productivity.
• Strong & enthusiastic team player with good communication skills.
• Initiative taker, with ability to be productive in individual and team settings.
• Comfort and fluency with a variety of editing and publishing tools (Dalet, Avid, 9
  
  CMS, etc).
• Able to work flexible hours.
