Python & Automation Analyst; Market Risk
Job Description
Insight Global is looking for an individual to join a top bank in downtown Toronto for a 12-month contract position. The role supports the end-to-end market risk analytics and reporting process, with a strong emphasis on Python and automation.
The successful candidate will spend roughly 50% of their time on daily reporting and 50% on automation and improvement initiatives. The team is looking for a forward‑looking individual who proactively identifies opportunities to improve and automate existing processes rather than maintaining the status quo.
This team is responsible for delivering accurate, complete, and timely market risk measurements while maintaining strong operational processes and controls. The group supports internal stakeholders as well as regulatory reporting requirements.
The team is highly collaborative and consists of approximately 6 team members.
Day‑to‑Day ResponsibilitiesProduce and support daily market risk reporting, primarily during morning hours
Execute scheduled and ad‑hoc market risk processes accurately and on time
Monitor and analyze key market risk metrics, including Value at Risk (VaR), Stress testing, Trading limits, Daily P&L back‑testing and investigation of exceptions
Upload and validate risk exposures within internal systems
Produce and maintain dashboards and reporting outputs
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and automate manual workflows
Work on several mini automation projects using Python
Support strong governance, controls, and documentation in line with regulatory standards
Assist with internal and external audit requests as needed
2–3 years of relevant experience in automation and reporting using Python.
Post‑secondary degree in a related field (Finance, Economics, Math, Engineering, etc.)
Intermediate Python skills (mandatory, including ability to write and troubleshoot)
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
Basic working knowledge of SQL and Excel (VBA is ideal)
Comfortable working in a production‑driven reporting environment
Strong programming mindset and interest in process transformation - Foundational understanding of market risk concepts, such as VaR, SVaR, stress testing, Greeks, limits
CFA, FRM, or other risk‑related designation
Knowledge of capital markets products (e.g., bonds, options, derivatives)
Exposure to regulatory risk reporting or audit support
Prior experience automating reporting or data workflows
Knowledge of industry trends and regulatory requirements for risk reporting.
