Senior Analyst, Trade Desk Support – Fixed Term (12 months)

Edmonton, Calgary or Toronto.
Job type: 12‑month fixed term.
The Senior Analyst, Trade Desk Support provides front‑line operational and support services to investment trading teams, ensuring timely and accurate execution, settlement readiness, and issue resolution across global markets. The role serves as a key liaison between traders, portfolio managers, operations, technology, and external counter parties to support daily trading activity, operational accuracy, and effective coordination across internal teams.
Salary:
Base salary range $92,000 – $115,000. Compensation will consider geographic location, experience, skills, internal equity, and other relevant factors.
- Provide real‑time support to the trading desk across multiple asset classes (equities, fixed income, derivatives and FX).
- Assist with trade capture, booking, validation, and lifecycle management to ensure accurate and timely processing and minimize settlement risk.
- Triage, investigate, and resolve issues independently where possible; escalate appropriately when required.
- Monitor daily trading activity, reconcile positions, cash and investigate discrepancies.
- Coordinate with operations, middle office, compliance, risk, and technology teams to resolve trade‑related issues.
- Coordinate with external service providers to resolve incidents efficiently.
- Support pre‑ and post‑trade processes, including trade confirmations, allocations, settlements, and trade cost analysis.
- Ensure adherence to internal controls, regulatory requirements, and trading policies.
- Assist traders with ad‑hoc reporting, market data queries, and system troubleshooting.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, reduce risk, and improve controls.
- Identify root causes of recurring issues and recommend process or control improvements.
- Co‑ordinate with technology, OMS & EMS vendors to support new product launches, broker onboarding, system enhancements, and user acceptance testing as required.
- Communicate clearly and professionally in time‑sensitive situations, including market disruptions or system incidents.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Accounting, or a related field.
- 2–5 years of experience in trade support, trading operations, middle office, or a related investment operations role.
- Working knowledge of capital markets and trade life cycles; understanding of settlement processes, market conventions, and operational risk controls.
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Clear and confident communication with front‑office and cross‑functional teams.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond quickly to issues as they arise.
- Experience supporting trading activities in a time‑sensitive environment.
- Strong proficiency in Excel; experience with data reconciliation and issue analysis.
- Experience with trading, order management, or portfolio management systems is an asset.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.
- Familiarity with asset classes relevant to the desk (e.g., equities, FX, rates, credit).
- Exposure to regulatory frameworks and best execution requirements.
- Progress toward or completion of relevant certifications (e.g., CFA, CPA, FRM) is an asset.
