The Ascendant Wealth Partners (AWP) team is a Toronto-based boutique investment management firm within RBC Dominion Securities that is committed to a holistic approach, integrating financial, tax, and legal considerations with a focus on client service. This highly performing Advisory Team consists of 30 professionals, including 7 Partners, and is entrusted with managing over $8 Billion of capital offering unbiased, personalized advice to families and institutions.

The Ascendant Wealth Partners (AWP) team is currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Associate Portfolio Manager who excels in crafting tailored investment strategies for our high-net-worth clientele. The successful candidate will help shape the execution of our investment management and asset allocation strategies. This person will be a key member of the AWP team and will report directly to the heads of AWP’s Investment Research and Asset Allocation, respectively.

What will you do?

  • Contribute to tactical asset allocation analysis and decisions based on macro-economic conditions and quantitative analysis.
  • Perform portfolio construction and optimization across asset classes.
  • Prepare asset allocation materials and present recommendations to Asset Allocation committee and AWP partners.
  • Support client communication by articulating asset allocation recommendations and market outlook.
  • Stay current on global economic trends and research.
  • Perform ad-hoc deep analysis on specific asset classes, as required.
  • Prepare investment committee materials.
  • Involved in third party manager due diligence and monitoring.
  • Lead third party manager peer benchmarking, quantitative analysis and qualitative review process.
  • What do you need to succeed?

    Must Have

  • University Degree in a related field (Economics and/or Business)
  • Chartered Financial Analyst designation or CFA Level 1 with willingness to work towards completion
  • 3-5 years’ experience in asset allocation or investment strategy within the investment management industry
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication in English
  • Experience working in a collaborative team environment
  • Strong understanding of portfolio theory and asset allocation models
  • Proficient in Excel and other portfolio analytic systems such as Fact Set, Bloomberg etc
  • Nice to Have

  • CFP Designation (Certified Financial Planner)
  • Experience with capital market assumptions, scenario analysis and portfolio optimization tools
