The Capital Markets Accounting Team is responsible for the integrity and timeliness of the Capital Markets business units’ financial reporting. In this role you will report to the Senior Manager within the accounting team of the Finance Controllership group and embody CIBC’s One Finance Vision and Guiding Principles.
How You’ll Succeed
Accounting and controls – Drive accurate, complete, and timely inputs to the various reporting groups, provide accounts attestation and ensure all balance sheet accounts are substantiated. Inspire adherence to timing in Service Level Agreements and support investigation and analysis of different methodologies by liaising with the Front Office, CFO group, Accounting Policy, Reporting COE, Reconciliations COE and Operations.
Relationship management – Possess good communication, teamwork, partnership and relationship building skills to collaborate with team members and stakeholders from different backgrounds and experiences. Liaise daily with Finance, Front Office and other Capital Markets stakeholder groups.
Agility – Support agile accounting processes and controls to ensure timeliness and accuracy. Implement changes in accounting policies/requirements in a controlled manner. Maintain end-to-end process maps and detailed task manuals in accordance with best practices, regulatory requirements, SOX, and Internal Controls.
Who You Are
You understand that success is in the details. You notice things that others don’t and apply critical, analytical thinking and sound judgement to inform your decision making.
You’re a certified professional. You have current accreditation and good standing in CPA, or are working toward your CPA designation, with 3+ years of relevant work experience.
You can demonstrate experience in Capital Markets accounting, supporting oversight and governance functions, and enhancing financial controls across multiple groups. You have strong knowledge of IFRS and understand accounting of complex and/or sensitive information. Public accounting firm or financial services experience is an asset.
