Purpose
Associate Directors play a senior leadership role within the Equity Research department, supporting the delivery of high-quality, differentiated research and contributing to the overall commercial success of the franchise. The Associate Director works closely with Research Analysts and Managing Directors to develop investment views, financial forecasts, and stock recommendations. This role involves deep sector expertise, leadership of research initiatives, mentorship of junior team members, and active engagement with internal and external clients.
What You ll Do:
- Lead the development, maintenance, and review of complex financial models and valuation analyses.
- Oversee comprehensive company, industry, and thematic research within assigned coverage.
- Provide senior input into stock recommendations, target prices, and investment theses.
- Author and co‑author research publications, including company reports, industry pieces, thematic research, and morning commentary.
- Ensure research output is high quality, timely, and compliant with internal policies and regulatory standards.
- Mentor and guide Research Associates and Senior Research Associates, including reviewing models and written work.
- Contribute to idea generation and differentiated research initiatives that enhance the Equity Research franchise.
- Support marketing activities, including preparation for and participation in meetings with institutional investors and internal stakeholders.
- Liaise with Sales, Trading, Corporate Banking, and other internal partners within regulatory guidelines.
- Maintain and develop relationships with company management teams and investor relations contacts.
- Monitor market developments, macroeconomic trends, and sector‑specific drivers.
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve research processes, formats, and efficiency.
What You ll Bring:
- A university degree in business or a relevant discipline.
- A Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation, MBA, Master of Finance degree, or enrolment in/completion of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) is an asset.
- Capital Markets knowledge/experience.
- Metals, Mining and Precious Minerals sector knowledge and experience is required.
- Strong accounting, financial modeling, graphing, and analytical skills.
- Expertise in Bloomberg, Fact Set, Blue Matrix.
- Excellent command of Microsoft Suite, with a particular emphasis on advanced Excel skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to multi‑task and manage several on‑going projects at the same time.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment with tight deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail.
Work Arrangement:
This position is currently a hybrid role, with the expectation that you will work 4 days a week in the office. Please note that this is subject to change based on the needs of the business.
