The Investor Relations (IR) team is accountable for maintaining ongoing engagement with the investment community while delivering market intelligence and analytical insights to internal stakeholders. This role serves as a key leadership position within the IR function, responsible for designing and executing IGM Financial’s investor relations strategy. The incumbent will oversee communications with current and prospective shareholders, as well as sell-side equity research analysts, ensuring consistent, transparent, and effective messaging.
The role also leads the development of investor-facing materials that articulate IGM Financial’s strategy and performance, including quarterly earnings presentations and other external communications. In addition, the AVP, Investor Relations will build and sustain strong working relationships with senior leadership across IGM Financial and its operating companies to support the successful delivery of the IR programme. The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional communication capabilities, deep expertise in capital markets, and a thorough understanding of the company’s business, strategy, and value proposition.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the development and delivery of a proactive investor relations strategy, including shareholder surveillance, targeting initiatives, and event management, to effectively engage buy-side and sell-side analysts in Canada and internationally.
- Partner with the Head of Investor Relations to establish and sustain strong relationships with key buy-side and sell-side equity analysts.
- Oversee industry and company research to support IGM Financial’s investor relations activities and strategic positioning.
- Monitor, analyse, and synthesise market intelligence, providing insights to senior management on financial and industry trends, shareholder sentiment, and competitive activity that may influence the organisation.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Actuarial Science, or a related field, with a professional designation (e.g. CFA, CPA, FSA) or MBA.
- 10+ years of relevant experience.
- Strong knowledge of financial and capital markets.
- Experience in investor relations, equity research, investment banking, or institutional equity sales is an asset.
- Proven ability to build credibility and influence senior stakeholders internally and externally.
- Strong interpersonal, relationship management, and communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation).
- Demonstrated analytical and financial modelling capability.
- Ability to manage competing priorities under tight deadlines.
- Willingness to travel periodically and work extended hours during peak periods.
