What you will be doing:
As the Director, Mortgage Security, you will provide senior leadership in safeguarding the Real Estate Secured Lending business by overseeing mortgage-related fraud, AML, and reputational risk matters with sound judgment and discretion. You will deliver clear, independent advice on complex issues that influence business decisions, strengthen controls, and uphold the integrity of RESL’s lending practices. Through strong relationship leadership, industry awareness, and specialized investigative capability, you will enhance risk culture and supports a resilient and well‑governed mortgage business.
Isthis role right for you? In this role, you will:

- Personally lead and conduct enhanced investigations and in person field assessments where elevated fraud, AML, or reputational risk is identified, including income misrepresentation, down payment integrity, and occupancy fraud.
- Act as the single point of executive consultation for sensitive mortgage related matters, including internal misconduct, client complaints, broker remediation, demarketing disputes, and executive exception requests.
- Provide senior AML, KYC, and Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) advisory, including oversight of mortgage focused EDD reviews, UTR quality assurance, and trend analysis to identify emerging or systemic fraud risks.
- Own executive level investigative outcomes and recommendations, including remediation actions, escalation to Corporate Security or Employee Relations, cutoff decisions, and client retention or demarketing determinations.
- Represent Mortgage Security in regulatory, audit, and external stakeholder engagements, maintaining credibility with regulators, default insurers, law enforcement, and peer financial institutions.
- Design and deliver mortgage fraud, risk, and AML education to sales leadership, HFAs, and national field audiences, reinforcing risk awareness and accountability across the business.
- Advanced post‑secondary education in a relevant field (e.g., business, criminology, finance, law), complemented by specialized training or certifications in fraud, AML, or financial crime investigation.
- Significant leadership experience overseeing complex financial crime, fraud, AML, or investigative functions, including responsibility for directing teams and delivering outcomes with material business impact.
- Demonstrated track record leading deep investigative work informed by data, risk indicators, and pattern analysis, with experience managing escalations, complaints, and sensitive risk matters.
- Executive‑level communication and influence, with the ability to advise senior leaders, frame risk implications clearly, and shape decisions in ambiguous or high‑stakes contexts.
