ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Vice President, Strategy, Governance, and Advisory (SGA), you will lead an AML Advisory team in providing advice and independent oversight of compliance with all regulatory requirements relating to Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Anti‑Terrorist Financing (ATF) for the Personal, Business and Commercial Banking businesses in Canada.
- Lead a team of AML officers (AMLOs) in providing guidance and oversight of money‑laundering and terrorist‑financing compliance, internal controls activities, and implementation of processes and initiatives to ensure risks are being appropriately managed.
- Keep up-to-date with regulatory information and changes, and communicate these to respective Lines of Business (LoBs) to identify gaps between current practices and regulatory requirements.
- Act as primary relationship manager between Enterprise AML (EAML) and LoBs to assess impacts and strategies developed to address new or changing requirements.
- Provide subject‑matter expertise and advice during the development and implementation of new processes and initiatives to ensure compliance with applicable AML regulatory requirements.
- Provide recommendations and escalations as applicable in respect of client risk assessments.
- Lead the completion of the annual Inherent and Control Risk Assessment for AML/ATF.
- Provide advice and guidance on AML regulatory requirements and changes as the subject‑matter expert to the Lines of Business and Functional Groups you support.
- Understand the LoB and Functional Group’s exposure to potential money laundering, terrorist financing and sanctions risks based on its client types, product/service offerings and operations and the controls and processes to mitigate such risks.
- Provide leadership and effective management of department staff to influence employee commitment to the organization and to the team.
- Build team and individual capabilities through job shadowing, special projects, and training to ensure employees are capable of performing to job requirement standards.
- Provide strategic leadership and vision for the continued evolution of the Wealth Management AML/ATF program.
- Develop strong relationships with LoB leaders and employees through regular meetings, presentations, and acting as the primary contact on AML matters.
- Establish partnerships with Risk or Control colleagues specifically in Enterprise AML and other areas, including Risk Management, Internal Audit, Integrated Business Control Services, and other functional areas.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience working in AML compliance within the financial services industry.
• Comprehensive knowledge of the AML laws and regulations in Canada, and have advised, interpreted and/or implemented AML requirements at a financial institution or similar entity in Canada.
• Undergraduate degree in business, law, accounting or equivalent experience.
• Excellent risk acumen, systematic thinker with strong process, analytical and technical skills.
• Excellent written, oral, presentation and executive communication skills.
• Experience leading diverse, high‑performing teams; a minimum of 2 years of people‑management experience is an asset.
