Commercial Account Manager, Portfolio Management
As part of a growing and dynamic Commercial Portfolio Management team, the Account Manager is responsible for underwriting renewals, assumptions, and annual reviews relating to all commercial mortgage product types.
Core Responsibilities- Manage renewals, assumptions, annual reviews, and ad‑hoc requests, ensuring compliance with the Bank’s lending guidelines, risk appetite, and procedures.
- Ensure superior customer service is being delivered.
- Communicate with external contacts (partners, brokers, counsel, etc.) and internal contacts (management, funders, coordinators, etc.) to meet deadlines and maintain high service standards.
- Contribute to special projects as assigned.
- Proficient underwriting skills with 3–5 years of commercial mortgage and/or single‑family residential underwriting experience.
- Working knowledge of AML/ATF regulations and corporate/legal documentation for commercial real estate across Canada.
- Post‑secondary education in business or finance.
- Bilingualism (French/English) is considered an asset.
- Sound technical knowledge of commercial real‑estate underwriting, financial statement analysis, and factors affecting the commercial mortgage market.
- Good working knowledge of MS Office (primarily Word and Excel).
- Effective analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Strong organizational and time‑management skills.
- Ability to handle multiple competing priorities.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently to achieve goals.
- Highly developed verbal and written communication skills, able to communicate with senior management and partners clearly, concisely, and professionally.
- Self‑starter who makes sound underwriting decisions efficiently, managing files of greater complexity with minimal supervision.
- Applies corporate policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements to assess files and rationalize recommendations.
- Draws on specific product/document knowledge to assess suitability when information is limited.

The incumbent will work hybrid; in‑office time will be spent at Equitable Bank’s additional office space located at 2200-25 Ontario Street, Toronto, ON.
