Overview
Reporting to the Director of Tax, the Tax Analyst will support the tax compliance and reporting functions across the organization's Canadian and U.S. entities. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands‑on exposure to corporate, trust, and partnership taxation within a sophisticated real estate context.
Responsibilities- Tax Compliance & Reporting
:
Assist in the preparation of Canadian corporate income tax returns, partnership information returns, and trust tax filings; prepare and file indirect tax returns, including GST/HST and QST; prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual income‑tax provisions and related tax‑accounting schedules; review correspondence from tax authorities and assist in responding to audits and information requests; gain exposure to tax‑planning initiatives related to acquisitions, dispositions, corporate reorganizations, financing arrangements, and inter‑company transactions;
participate in special projects and other tax‑related initiatives as needed; collaborate with internal finance, accounting, and investment teams, as well as external advisors. - Tax Operations & Corporate Administration
:
Assist in maintenance of corporate records and legal entity information, including organizational charts and corporate entity databases; support corporate compliance activities, including annual returns filings and review of annual resolutions; coordinate the setup and ongoing maintenance of CRA business accounts.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or a related field;
- CPA designation in progress with a willingness to pursue the CPA In‑Depth Tax Course;
- 1–3 years of corporate tax experience; public and/or real‑estate industry experience considered an asset;
- Knowledge of Canadian income tax and indirect tax compliance requirements;
- Experience with Yardi or other property management/accounting systems is considered an asset;
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and collaborate across departments;
- Detail‑oriented with strong time‑management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment;
- Excellent command of MS Office products:
Word, Power Point, Excel.
