Executive Trust Officer
What You’ll Be Doing
As the Executive Trust Officer, Indigenous Trust, you will be responsible for the ongoing account management and administration of Trusts. This involves partnering with a specialized team of professionals within Indigenous Markets dedicated to working with Indigenous Trusts. You will be primarily accountable for the timely, accurate, and professional administration of complex trust accounts. You will identify and mitigate account risks while adhering to all CIBC Trust Policies & Procedures, including cash management, analytics reporting, fee collection, account opening, etc.
At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.
The expected annualized base salary range for this role is $92,490 to $127,200. In addition to base pay, compensation for this role includes participation in an annual discretionary incentive or bonus program.
How You’ll Succeed- Collaboration – Develop and maintain a strong partnership with the clients, partners and stakeholders to provide excellent client service. Effective and open communication is critical to ensure parties are informed of key activities, milestones and deliverables. Partner effectively with internal experts from the Investment Management and Tax Department, to provide oversight and guidance on client investment and tax issues. Engage external professionals as required.
Supervise account investments to ensure consistency with account objectives, documents and legislation. - Trust Acumen – Ensure the onboarding and account management aligns with the unique needs of clients and the characteristics of Indigenous Trust. Establish effective tracking, monitoring and compliance with the governing document and be responsible for the resolution of all operational, technical and discretionary issues encountered in the management of the accounts. Assist in developing standards in administration and vetting new and/or changes to policies and procedures.
Optimize account administration by identifying and implementing process improvements. - People Management – Accountable to oversee and supervise the workflow of staff by providing ongoing technical assistance to support the achievement of the business unit’s priorities and CIBC’s overall goals. Create a positive work environment and act as an effective role model by championing CIBC’s mission, vision and values. Ensure compliance with policies, standards, guidelines and controls by applying the policies and controls fairly and consistently so employees understand what to expect.
You Are
- Demonstrate 8‑12 years of experience in the Trust Industry or a related field. Possess detailed knowledge of accounting and investing sufficient to administer a range of moderately complex Trust and Accounts.
- Certified professional – it is an asset if you have obtained the Member Trust Institute (MTI) and/or Trust and Estate Practitioner (TEP) designation(s) or a CPA designation.
