Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and serving on the Executive Leadership Team, the Director, Finance and Operations provides senior leadership across finance, accounting, payroll, operations, risk, legal, insurance, IT, procurement, and administration. The role ensures strong financial stewardship, reliable reporting, effective controls, and operational infrastructure that supports TKTC’s mission, governance, and continued growth.
The Director leads financial management, budgeting, audit preparation, charitable reporting, payroll and benefits oversight, revenue analysis, contract administration, vendor relationships, and operational systems. The role also serves as the lead liaison to the Audit and Risk Committee and contributes to reporting and information requests from King's Trust Group.
Please Note: This full-time role has a hiring range of $120,000 - $160,000 and includes an employee benefits program, four (4) weeks’ vacation, and winter closure.
This is a hybrid role requiring three (3) days per week at our downtown Toronto office. Occasional work outside standard hours, including attendance at evening or weekend events, may be required.
Responsibilities- Lead TKTC’s finance and accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial reporting, accounting records, reconciliations, payroll oversight, payment processes, and internal controls.
- Prepare and review monthly financial statements, variance analysis, balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, banking records, coding disbursements, cash management, accounts payable processes, and operational financial reports.
- Lead the annual budget and reforecasting processes, working with departments to identify assumptions, risks, opportunities, and resource requirements.
- Oversee payroll administration, payroll controls, and related reporting processes to ensure employees are paid accurately, on time, and in line with legal and organizational requirements.
- Ensure accounting processes, financial records, approvals, and reports comply with GAAP standards for non‑profits, statutory requirements, internal controls, and organizational policies.
- Partner with Partnerships and Fund Development on revenue forecasting, proposal budgets, funding agreements, donor reporting, and revenue analysis.
- Provide financial input into proposals, budgets, funder agreements, and reporting materials to ensure consistency, accuracy, and alignment with organizational and funder requirements.
- Review approved funding agreements and budgets to ensure deliverables, restrictions, timelines, reporting obligations, and financial requirements are understood and tracked.
- Develop tools and reports that support revenue projections, multi‑year commitment tracking, funder compliance, and reporting to the CEO, ELT, Board, and Audit and Risk Committee.
- Support charitable receipting processes, benefit calculations, and related financial controls in collaboration with relevant staff.
- Manage contract administration processes, including review coordination, execution tracking, renewal timelines, documentation, and liaison with external legal or insurance advisors.
- Maintain organized records of executed contracts, insurance documents, compliance requirements, reporting deadlines, and renewal obligations.
- Develop and maintain processes for external contracted services, procurement, and vendor engagement to support consistent decision‑making across departments.
