Associate Director Fixed Income Trader

The Vice President, Head of Global Trading seeks an Associate Director, Fixed Income Trader to join the trading team located in Montreal or Quebec City. The successful candidate reports directly to the Global Head of Trading and works closely with fixed‑income and other asset‑class traders.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor and execute timely and reliable transactions in fixed income and related derivatives (IRS, X-CCY, swaptions).
  • Support the trading team in order management and operational processes.
  • Collaborate with the investment management team by sharing market insights.
  • Coordinate with departments such as Accounting, Legal and Operations.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with counter parties to ensure optimal liquidity access.
  • Assist in the development of junior traders.
  • Support improvements in the trade process, including pre/post‑trade analytics and TCA.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (advanced degree or CFA preferred).
  • At least 5 years of experience trading fixed income products and related derivatives.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of Bloomberg and trading tools such as Candeal, Market Axcess, Trumid.
  • Effective teamwork abilities.
  • Capacity to thrive under pressure, manage multiple tasks and maintain detail orientation.
  • Ability to code in Python, SQL, VBA; experience in FX, equities, futures, or credit is an asset.
  • Fluent in French and advanced level of English; required for weekly communication with internal and external clients across Canada.
