Career OpportunityJoin the Finance team at an exciting time. A Financial Analyst position is available in our Capital Accounting section.
What You Will Do- Support the development of corporate capital planning, budgeting, and funding strategies, policies, directions, guidelines, processes, and tactics.
- Work with Business Partner Support staff to ensure understanding of, and give advice on, corporate financial planning & budgeting policies, practices, controls, and deadlines; and ensure annual 10‑year Capital Budget & Plan and 15‑year Capital Investment Plan, financial updates, and in‑year budget adjustments are prepared, reviewed, approved, and submitted in accordance with corporate policies.
- Maintain and update TTC’s SAP financial system throughout the fiscal year to reflect approved in‑year budget and capital complement changes; coordinate with the Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis – Capital to ensure compliance with applicable policies and secure required approvals.
- Assist with the planning, development, testing, and continuous improvement of systems, templates, tools, and reporting to support the annual capital budgeting, financial performance reporting, and in‑year budget adjustment processes.
- Help develop and deliver training and procedures related to capital planning & budgeting concepts, strategies, policies, analysis, financial management, controls, systems, templates, tools, and reporting; collaborate with Business Management & Performance staff to create and deliver appropriate business training.
- Promote a respectful work and service environment that supports diversity and inclusion, and lead the development and implementation of inclusive and accessible policies, programs and services for employees and customers in accordance with TTC commitments and obligations under the Ontario Human Rights Code, the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, and TTC policies.
- Participate in the TTC Customer Service Ambassador Program.
- Post‑secondary degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related discipline, along with related experience; or a combination of education, training, and experience deemed equivalent.
- A professional accounting designation, project cost management designation, graduate degree or other related designation is an asset.
- Knowledge of and experience with Public Sector Accounting Standards is an asset.
- Demonstrated work experience with SAP is preferred.
- Sound experience in financial planning, budgeting, analysis, performance measurement, strategic and service business planning support and evaluation, and policy development in a large public or private sector organization.
- Experience in a corporate oversight role leading operating and/or capital budget formulation, with extensive knowledge of generally accepted budgeting principles, techniques, and systems in a large public organization.
- Experience in preparing financial plans, budgetary reporting, and financial analysis for a managerial audience.
