VICE PRESIDENT, GLOBAL FINANCE TRANSFORMATION
Role Summary
The Vice President, Global Finance Transformation is a senior leadership role with enterprise-wide accountability for advancing Sun Life’s Global Finance Evolution agenda. As a key member of the Enterprise Finance leadership team, this role will lead the design and execution of large-scale, global transformation initiatives aimed at simplifying, standardizing, and modernizing finance processes.
This is a pivotal role at a critical stage in Sun Life’s evolution toward a more globally integrated, technology-enabled finance function. The successful candidate will drive end-to-end process transformation and enable global operating models (including Global Process Owner structures), and accelerate the adoption of data, automation, and AI to unlock productivity, scalability, and higher impact finance capabilities.

Lead enterprise-wide finance transformation strategy and executionDrive the end-to-end Global Finance Evolution agenda, including defining priorities, mobilizing workstreams, and delivering measurable outcomes aligned to cost, efficiency, and quality objectives.Design and implement global, process-aligned operating modelsLead the transition toward globally consistent finance processes, including the establishment of Global Process Owner (GPO) models and expanded use of shared services and global delivery capabilities.Drive end-to-end process re-engineering across core finance processesOversee transformation across key processes (e.g., Record-to-Report, FP&A, Expense Management), with a focus on standardization, simplification, and elimination of duplication across business groups.Partner with finance, technology and data teams to modernize the finance technology landscape, improve data foundations, and deploy automation and AI solutions to enhance decision-making and operational efficiency.Deliver measurable value and transformation outcomesEstablish and track clear success metrics (e.g., cost savings, cycle time reduction, productivity gains), ensuring disciplined execution and benefits realization across all transformation initiatives.Drive stakeholder alignment and enterprise change managementEngage and influence senior leaders across a complex, matrixed organization; build alignment on transformation priorities; and lead structured change management to embed new ways of working.Build and lead high-performing transformation teamsDevelop a strong, dedicated transformation capability, combining finance, process, technology, and change expertise to support sustained transformation over multiple years.Qualifications & Experience
15+ years of progressive experience in finance leadership, transformation, or large-scale change programsProven experience leading global finance transformation initiatives within a complex, matrixed financial services environmentDeep understanding of core finance processes (e.g., Record-to-Report, FP&A, controls) and operating model designExperience with shared services, global delivery models, or process centralization initiativesUndergraduate degree in Business, Finance, or related disciplineLeadership Profile & Capabilities
Strategic and execution-oriented – able to set bold direction while driving disciplined deliveryGlobal and enterprise mindset – experienced operating across geographies and organizational boundariesInfluence and stakeholder leadership – strong presence with the ability to align and mobilize senior leadersTransformation leadership – track record of leading complex, multi-year change in large organizationsData and technology fluency – strong understanding of digital, data, and AI enablement in financeOrganizational savvy – able to navigate complexity and drive outcomes in a matrixed environment
