We are all about embracing a culture that prioritizes risk discipline, collaboration, mentorship, and professional development.

As a Lead Credit Officer within the Canada Diversified Credit Risk team, you will be at the forefront of supporting responsible business growth by delivering credit solutions to clients from a diverse range of industries with revenues ranging from $20 million to $2 billion+.

You will be accountable for the ongoing risk management and credit analysis of a diversified group of clients. You will conduct comprehensive due diligence, structure transactions, and provide independent assessment and approval recommendations.

Your responsibilities include maintaining portfolio quality, exercising sound credit judgment, and delivering timely solutions that align with both client needs and JPMorgan’s risk appetite.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct detailed quantitative and qualitative analysis on new and existing clients across industries, including cash flow generation, leverage, and forward-looking risk assessments.
  • Structure, negotiate, and document credit transactions to align with risk policies and client requirements, ensuring legal and bank standards are met.
  • Lead and participate in client due diligence, including direct interactions with client executive teams, and synthesize findings into clear credit recommendations.
  • Maintain ongoing surveillance of portfolio performance, monitor compliance with loan terms and covenants, and identify early warning signals or deteriorating risk profiles.
  • Prepare and review credit approval memos and ensure the timely execution of credit decisions.
  • Collaborate closely with client coverage bankers, product partners, and internal stakeholders to drive seamless transaction execution and enhance the client experience.
  • Mentor and develop junior risk professionals, contributing to a culture of continuous learning, high standards, and team engagement.
  • Track market and industry developments relevant to client exposures, sharing insights with colleagues and adapting strategies as needed.
  • Support the credit team's contribution to organizational initiatives, including process improvement, change management, and diversity and inclusion efforts.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or higher with preference for degrees in business, finance, economics, or a related discipline.
  • 6+ years of experience in credit risk management, credit analysis, or lending within commercial or corporate banking, with exposure to cash‑flow based borrowers across a diversified set of industries.
  • Strong financial modeling, accounting, and credit analysis skills, with an ability to assess complex capital structures and risk factors.
  • Deep understanding of credit products (loans, derivatives, and cash management), credit structures, and associated documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks under tight deadlines, maintaining high quality and attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an aptitude for influencing outcomes across various levels and functions.
  • Track record of fostering teamwork, developing talent, and supporting diversity and inclusion initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a banking environment preferred including syndicated credit facilities, financial sponsor‑affiliated transactions, and leveraged financing.
  • Advanced degree (MBA, CFA, or similar) is an asset.
  • Direct experience with Canadian diversified, cash‑flow clients.
  • Familiarity and experience working with large language models and related artificial intelligence tools.
  • Familiarity with process improvement and change management initiatives.
