What is the opportunity?

You will join a team responsible for ensuring compliance with the tax reporting requirements of the IRS QI Agreement. Team responsibilities include tax withholding and remittances, information reporting to accountholders and the IRS, and income and tax reconciliation. Reporting to the Manager, US Tax Reconciliation, you will perform reconciliation activities to confirm that tax withholding and reporting are accurate and fully compliant with US Tax Regulations.

What will you do?

  • Perform income and tax reconciliation tasks across daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual cycles

  • Research tax reporting and withholding requirements from security issuer websites, including obtaining Qualified Notices and income reallocation data

  • Proactively identify, track and escalate data anomalies across reconciliation cycles

  • Investigate breaks, identify root causes and follow up as required to prevent repetition

  • Validate data integrity across multiple systems (BTS, Client Source, OnDemand, Service Link) to ensure reporting accuracy

  • Recommend process improvements based on findings and industry best practices to enhance efficiency

  • Maintain and update desk operating procedure manuals to reflect current processes

What You Need to Succeed

Must haves:

  • University degree or recognized diploma in finance, economics, or accounting, or equivalent professional experience

  • Advanced proficiency in MS Access (SQL queries, VBA, macros) and MS Excel Workflow Automation Tools (Power Queries, pivot tables, VBA)

  • 2+ years of experience in QI-related tax operations

  • 2+ years of reconciliation experience with proven ability to investigate and resolve account breaks

  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in data entry, review, and analysis

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively in a team environment

Nice-to-have:

  • Completion of Canadian Securities Course (CSC)

  • Familiarity with RBC Wealth Management Canada systems and applications (BTS, Client Source, OnDemand, Service Link)

  • Understanding of US tax regulations applicable to Qualified Intermediaries, including the QI Agreement and Sections 302, 305(c), 871(m), and 1446 of the Internal Revenue Code

  • Knowledge of security financing, including institutional borrowing and lending, third-party settlements, derivatives, and repos

  • Bilingual in French and English
