Job Description
:This is a 6 month Contract opportunity
The Director, Advanced Planning (DAP) is accountable for providing advanced tax and estate planning solution advice to high net worth end-clients through financial advisors; and for providing education to the financial advisors and internal audiences as a subject matter expert for new and existing tax efficient products and services.
As a tax and estate planning expert, the DAP is also responsible for keeping the regional sales team current with their knowledge of tax and estate planning solutions. By partnering with the Regional Sales Director, the DAP will drive wealth and insurance product sales by providing Advisors with case consultation and support through the delivery of the best tax efficient insurance solutions for the Client, and solidify our partnership with Advisor and their firm.
What will you do?
Promote and deliver effective tax and estate planning (TEPG) advice to our sales team and key distribution partners
Deliver and promote sales tools that support Sun Life's products, proprietary financial planning concepts, and specialty needs analyses, including legal and compliance issues
Consult with High Net Worth Clients and their own allied professional (accountants and lawyers) to identify tax-planning opportunities related to their estate, wealth, business succession and business continuation planning
Develop a thorough understanding of the various Sun Life distribution channels by establishing and enhancing relationships
Consults in the creation and deployment of consumer/allied advisor reference materials
Delivers training workshops and associated materials for financial advisors.
Delivers client seminars and associated materials
Involvement in case development, including case research and special illustration
Participates in industry profile building activities
Keeps current, through research, on tax and estate planning issues
What do you need to succeed?
Bilingual in Mandarin/English
Strong knowledge of personal and corporate tax planning, including but not limited to tax planning areas such as retirement compensation arrangements, charitable gifting, wills and trusts, and the dynamics of business ownership and succession planning.
Experience with and comfortable working in the High Net Worth market.
Excellent understanding of industry trends and their implication on achieving business sales results/objectives.
Strong knowledge of personal and corporate taxation
CA, CPA, LL.B or FCIA designation
Completion of the CICA In-depth Tax Program and the In-Depth Tax Issues for the Owner Manager Business course (considered an asset)
Strong organization and analytical skills
Excellent presentation, facilitation and training skills
Strong interpersonal and influencing skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Minimum of 5 years’ of professional experience within the financial services industry.

Compensation:
This role includes an incentive plan and total compensation that could well exceed the salary range posted.
