What we are looking for
The High Value Payment Systems Operations team provides business expertise to ensure the operational excellence of Canada’s clearing and settlement infrastructure, and interfaces with member institutions to develop, maintain, and improve business processes (including rules and standards) that support the operation of the national clearing and settlement systems. The team also plays a key role in planning the evolution and future state of high value payments in Canada.

A day in the life
Responsibilities as a Payment Analyst will include but are not limited to:

Business Services and Operations

Perform in depth research and analysis in support of projects and other related work items to provide advice and recommendations to Payment Systems Management.

Provide a business interface between Payment Systems Management, financial institutions and other external stakeholders, ensuring that issues impacting members or Payments Canada are identified, constructive questioning of business, operational and policy implications is completed, and resolutions analyzed.

Conduct research to promptly respond to public inquiries related to payments and Payments Canada rules and standards.

Contribute to the continual improvement of the High Value Payment Systems Operations team by proactively identifying, documenting and sharing process improvement opportunities.

Execute the operations, monitoring, and oversight of Lynx system business processes and activities.

Reporting

Assist internal Payments Canada team responsible for delivery of the Quarterly Operational Health report and other related reports, including innovating and improving on the depth and quality of the team’s reporting for various internal and external audiences.

Interface with and provide timely, accurate information to various corporate reporting teams (e.g., risk and security, compliance, research).

Assist with key reporting activities, including the annual tiered participation reporting.

Subject Matter Expert

Develop a strong understanding of Payments Canada payment systems and payment functions including how Payments Canada systems interact with other FMIs and participant systems.

Share subject matter expertise internally with colleagues to help ensure adequate cross training for critical functions.
