In-house counsel, Finance & Banking

Our client, a leading asset management organization, is seeking to add an In-House Counsel to their growing team in a role supporting their sophisticated institutional asset management business. Candidates should have strong experience in private funds, asset management, and institutional investor negotiations, preferably gained at a leading investment manager or law firm.

In this role, you'll advise on a broad range of institutional investment management matters, including negotiating investment management agreements, advising on the formation, launch and maintenance of investment funds, and partnering with business leaders on product development and strategic initiatives. You will partner with stakeholders across the business including compliance, portfolio management and operations teams, to deliver practical, business-focused legal advice.

• 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in institutional asset management, investment funds, private markets or financial services.
• Strong knowledge of Canadian securities law and the regulatory frameworks for asset managers and investment funds.
• Experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial and investment management documentation.
• Excellent analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• A collaborative and proactive approach to practice and the demonstrated ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
