Cortland Credit Director, Private Debt Underwriting

Join Cortland Credit as the Director, specializing in private debt underwriting. This role is based in Toronto and focuses on managing credit investments with a hands-on approach.

In this vital position, you will report directly to the Chief Investment Officer and oversee the entire investment process for asset-based loans to lower middle market borrowers across North America and Western Europe. Leading a team, you will ensure comprehensive analysis and timely execution of credit investments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review and analyze pipeline credit facilities thoroughly

• Lead the creation of financial models for borrowers

• Conduct detailed due diligence with management and partners

• Ensure quality and punctuality of third-party due diligence

• Draft and maintain effective investment memos

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline

• 5 to 10+ years of underwriting experience

• History of underwriting senior secured asset-based credit

• High proficiency in Microsoft Office and financial analysis

• Excellent analytical and communication skills
