The opportunityEY's Financial Services Risk Management (FSRM) practice helps financial institutions manage risk, regulatory compliance, and business performance. Our Financial Crimes team supports clients in strengthening their AML, KYC, sanctions, and financial crime compliance programs.
As a Staff Consultant, you will support AML/KYC engagements for financial services clients, helping assess compliance programs, evaluate controls, identify risks, and deliver practical solutions to meet regulatory requirements.

YourKey Responsibilities
- Support AML, KYC, sanctions, and financial crime compliance engagements.
- Assess AML/KYC frameworks, policies, procedures, and controls.
- Review customer onboarding, CDD, EDD, risk rating, and ongoing monitoring processes.
- Evaluate transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, and suspicious activity reporting controls.
- Conduct financial crime risk assessments, compliance reviews, and remediation activities.
- Analyze regulatory requirements and identify control gaps and improvement opportunities.
- Prepare client-ready presentations, reports, and project deliverables.
- Collaborate with risk, compliance, technology, and operations teams.
- Research emerging financial crime and regulatory trends.
- Applies AI in the flow of work with strong professional judgement – Integrates AI into day-to-day delivery while validating outputs, challenging assumptions, and maintaining accountability for quality
- Leads responsible and risk-aware use of AI – Demonstrates sound judgement on data use, confidentiality, and ethical considerations and reinforces this standard practice; escalates risks appropriately and models good practices for teams
- Drives structured and creative problem solving using AI – Uses AI to accelerate analysis, scenario generation, and insight development while maintaining clear linkage to business outcomes
- Builds repeatable ways of working with AI – Develops and shares prompts, approaches, and tool usage that improve team productivity and consistency in existing data libraries/catalogues
- Knowledge of AML, KYC, sanctions, and financial crime compliance concepts.
- Understanding of customer due diligence, transaction monitoring, and screening processes.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and report-writing abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a client-facing team environment.
- Proactive, detail-oriented, and adaptable.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Law, Criminology, Risk Management, Compliance, or a related field.
- 1–2 years of experience in KYC, client onboarding, customer due diligence (CDD), enhanced due diligence (EDD), AML compliance, or financial crime operations.
- Exposure to banking, financial services, consulting, compliance, audit, risk management, or regulatory compliance environments.
- Familiarity with AML/KYC regulations and industry standards (e.g., FINTRAC, FATF) is an asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Experience supporting KYC remediation, customer file reviews, onboarding, periodic reviews, or compliance testing.
- Exposure to transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, or case management platforms.
- Knowledge of beneficial ownership, PEPs, sanctions, and suspicious transaction reporting.
