Job DescriptionThe Senior Finance Director & CFO for Canada Innovative Medicine (IM) role is a strategic leadership role responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the Canada business. As a key member of the Canada Leadership Team, this role provides end-to-end financial leadership, enabling business growth, optimizing performance, and ensuring strong financial governance. This business is the largest pharmaceutical company in Canada, by Sales measure with NTS over $1B across over 25 assets.
The successful candidate will act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, driving strategic decision-making across commercial, supply chain, and corporate functions while leading a high-performing finance organization.
- Lead the development and execution of financial strategy for the Canada IM business
- Deliver financial insights and recommendations to support business growth, portfolio prioritization, and investment decisions
- Partner closely with the General Manager and Leadership Team to shape long-range plans and annual business plans
- Serve as the primary finance partner to the Canada Leadership Team
- Influence key decisions across:
- Commercial investments and resource allocation
- Portfolio and lifecycle management
- Pricing and market access strategy
- Translate complex financial data into actionable insights
- Oversee all aspects of financial planning, forecasting, and reporting
- Ensure accurate and timely financial results, variance analysis, and performance tracking; work with NA IM FP&A and CFO to share business progress towards financial goals
- Drive accountability across functions to deliver financial commitments
- Provide leadership across key financial domains, including:
- Pricing, Gross-to-Net (GTN), and reimbursement strategies
- Supply chain financial management and operating margin adjustments
- Business unit financial performance across therapeutic areas
- Functional department performance
- Ensure alignment between commercial strategy and financial outcomes
- Capital expenditure planning and execution for Canada IM
- Role plays a key role in enabling IM Canada’s interface with national and provincial pricing and reimbursement bodies
- Maintain strong internal controls and compliance with corporate policies and regulatory requirements (SOX Tier 1 company, GAA reviews)
- Ensure integrity of financial reporting and adherence to WWP accounting standards
- Chair the Canada Pension Committee to ensure strong fiduciary duty on the x-sector Pension is upheld
- Sign off on corporate tax returns, SR&ED credit submissions and other tax filings
- Site leader for the Finance function
- Lead and develop a high-performing Canada Finance organization; lead a team of 10 with 2 managers reporting directly into this position
- Build strong leadership capability across direct and indirect teams
- Drive talent development, succession planning, and employee engagement with and through the Canada Finance Council
- Champion finance transformation initiatives along the SigniFI transformation journey, as well as encouraging digital enablement and co-pilot adoption
- Collaborate with global finance and shared service organizations (GS, NA Payroll, Fleet, Treasury, Tax COE)
- Drive continuous improvement in financial processes and operating models, as well as performance and metric dashboards
- Direct leadership of multiple Finance Managers across:
- Business Unit Finance responsible for the full J&J product portfolio
- Pricing and Gross-to-Net
- Supply Chain Finance
- Oversight of a broader finance organization including analysts and shared service support
- Cross-functional leadership across the Leadership team and x-sector businesses
