Downtown Toronto, ON (5 days a week in-office)

$140,000 to $160,000 base salary plus $15K annual bonus, profit sharing, and excellent benefits

Our client is a fast-growing, project-based business in Toronto managing a large and active portfolio of high-value initiatives. They are seeking an FP&A Manager to lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting across their portfolio of active projects, while building the tools, processes, and reporting that give leadership real-time visibility into performance.

This is a hands-on leadership role that combines financial rigor with operational partnership. You will manage one individual in this team to start.

Responsibilities
  • Partner with project teams to establish budgets and oversee forecasting, cost reporting, change orders, and cost reallocations across multiple active projects.
  • Oversee invoice review, approvals, and payment processing across the portfolio, ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal controls.
  • Lead complex cost-sharing and financial analyses for multi-party projects, presenting recommendations to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Oversee the monthly funding/draw process, coordinating with project teams, external partners, and executive management to secure timely approvals and payment releases.
  • Lead month-end reporting, reconciliations, forecasting, and variance analysis for active projects, identifying root causes and recommending improvements.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, reporting tools, and cost trackers that provide real-time visibility into financial performance.
  • Drive process improvement and automation initiatives, including the practical application of AI, to strengthen reporting and financial controls across the portfolio.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team responsible for the day-to-day financial execution of active projects, reviewing key deliverables before submission to leadership and external partners.
Requirements
  • University degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in FP&A, management accounting, and/or development finance.
  • Experience leading, mentoring, and developing junior team members.
  • Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to manage large volumes of financial data and present to senior leadership.
