Business Analyst V – Governance, Risk & Control (RCSA Specialist)

Position Title:
Business Analyst V
Work Location:
Toronto, ON – Downtown (Hybrid: 2 days/week onsite)
Contract Duration: 6 Months
Schedule:
Monday to Friday, Standard Business Hours (9:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
In this high-visibility Business-As-Usual (BAU) role, you will be instrumental in executing end-to-end Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) initiatives across wholesale banking operations. Acting as a trusted advisor, you will engage heavily with front-office staff, traders, and operations teams to map business processes, identify operational risks, test key controls, and drive remediation plans. Responsibilities
• RCSA Execution & Maintenance:
Lead and facilitate end-to-end Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) activities, including drafting detailed process maps, evaluating process risks, and establishing robust control frameworks.
• Inventory Management:
Assist with the creation, maintenance, and alignment of Value Chain (VC), Assessable Unit (AU), and Unique Business Process (UBP) inventories across business lines.
• Process Risk Consolidation:
Assess multiple individual processes concurrently to consolidate risks/controls, eliminate redundancies, and resolve gaps in inventory and process documentation.
• Interim Risk Assessments:
Perform timely RCSA updates and adjustments in response to emerging operational risk events or business issues.
• Control Testing Execution:
Conduct testing on key controls within established deadlines following institutional risk testing methodologies.
• Exception Analysis & Action Planning:
Analyze and track control testing exceptions to resolution, collaborating with business partners to design effective remediation plans for internal control gaps and root causes.
• KRI & Process Optimization:
Support the assessment of Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) and identify ongoing opportunities to streamline control testing and improve process efficiency.
• Stakeholder Engagement:
Build strong relationships with traders, operations leaders, and risk partners to ensure alignment on governance standards.
Qualifications
Must-Have
Qualifications:

Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
•
Experience:
3+ years of professional experience in operational risk, governance, internal audit, or quality control testing.
• RCSA Expertise:
Demonstrated end-to-end Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) experience (beyond basic operational execution).
• Governance Knowledge:
Advanced understanding of enterprise governance, risk and control procedures, strategies, and methodologies.
• Technical
Skills:
Strong proficiency in MS Excel (advanced formulas, data structuring, and reporting).
• Audit Background:
Prior hands-on experience in internal audit or quality control testing environments.
Soft Skills & Professional Attributes:
• Communication:
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the confidence to interface effectively with traders, operations staff, and leadership.
• Independence:
Self-motivated professional capable of hitting the ground running and managing tasks independently with minimal direction.
• Organization & Delivery:
Proven track record of managing multiple competing priorities while meeting tight deadlines.
