The Opportunity

We’re looking to fill a Senior Analyst, Commercial Real Estate-Enterprise Risk Management position at RFA Bank of Canada

The Senior Analyst will directly assist the Senior Director in the governance, portfolio management, decisioning support, risk monitoring and management of the CRE Balance Sheet portfolio of borrowers in the Commercial Real Estate ("CRE") segment for the Bank. The Senior Analyst is responsible for overseeing key portfolio management and reporting programs supporting the Senior Director in ensuring that the organization, its Senior Management and Board have full insight into the portfolio, credit, policy, guideline performance and adherence.

Core Responsibilities

As the Senior Analyst, Commercial Real Estate-Enterprise Risk Management, you will:

  • Assist in monitoring, tracking, identifying and reporting on key risk measures for the portfolio, loan performance, policy management and regulatory initiatives.
  • Gather and prepare data for required regulatory reporting on the CRE conventional portfolio that must meet mandatory monthly or quarterly deadlines or as requested.
  • Contribute to the review of CRE conventional loan applications, annual reviews, extensions, assumptions or as requested.
  • Perform post origination follow up for completion of approval conditions on both CMHC insured multi-unit loan applications and CRE conventional loans.
  • Gather, verify, and summarize data on the CRE conventional and CMHC insured loan portfolios for internal and ad hoc reporting, including commentary, to meet monthly and quarterly deadlines or as requested.
  • Support the maintenance of internal information systems for both CRE conventional and CMHC insured multi-unit loans.
  • Perform independent and effective reviews within tight timelines for the origination of CMHC insured multi-unit loan applications, including risk rating.
  • Monitor post origination, for compliance with CMHC COI covenants which will include risk rating updates.
  • Perform quality assurance of loan applications & annual reviews to ensure adherence to policies, guidelines and procedures.
  • Annually update the Bank’s approved appraiser list or similar lists, for approval.
  • Gather CRE industry information including market statistics and prepare reporting on same.
  • Contribute to and track action items and target dates to address internal audit and external audit findings, risks arising from business or other changes, risk events, and emerging risks.
  • Support in the preparation and updating of the inventory of operational and compliance risk metrics and controls (i.e. RCSA, EUC, and KRI).
  • Assist in maintaining, updating, revising or creating CRE related policies, guidelines, and procedures.
  • Perform periodic assessments to validate policy and guideline compliance on an ongoing basis to ensure that proper controls are in place and risks are appropriately mitigated.
  • Fosters a culture of collaboration, integrity, compliance, and internal control throughout the Bank.
  • Proactively identify risks in the portfolio both existing and emerging.
  • Effectively discharges other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time by the Senior Director.
