Why This Role Matters
The Finance Manager is accountable for the integrity of B&R's financial operations. This role translates strategic direction into the systems, controls, and team that keep B&R’s books accurate, financial insights visible, and the close deadlines on schedule.
Increasingly, the role goes beyond compliance and close. It is B&R's centre of gravity for finance systems: owning financial systems, our tour operations financial reporting logic, and expense management, ensuring the business runs on clean, defensible numbers, minimizing manual reconciliation and single-person knowledge.
Success in this role shows up directly in the speed and accuracy of the close, regulatory and audit readiness, and the organizational ability to spend time on strategy rather than day-to-day mechanics.
Position Overview
As Finance Manager, you lead the Finance team day to day, directly managing and developing our financial analysts. Reporting to the CFO, and supporting the management team, you own the systems and data behind our financial reporting and steward the company's financial records and internal controls.
This is not a purely compliance-focused role. Financial controls and reporting are foundational, but the real opportunity is financial insight, process optimization — including where AI and automation can help — and being a visible business partner across departments. You work closely with our core systems, including Business Central, our tour operations platform, and expense management software, and act as finance's partner to our technology team as we invest further in automation.
We want someone as comfortable spotting an efficiency gain as presenting financial results to senior management.
The ideal candidate is a designated accountant who is genuinely curious about technology and AI, thrives in a collaborative in-office environment, and brings the energy and curiosity to grow with B&R over the long term. You are as interested in improving how the work gets done as in getting it done, and you want a seat close to the action.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the overall financial reporting of B&R, including month-end and year-end entries, financial statements, and management reports.
- Steward the company's assets through robust internal controls and disciplined budget monitoring.
- Prepare departmental budgets and cash forecasts; monitor, analyze, and maintain general ledger accounts.
- Co-ordinate year-end audits with external auditors.
- Manage treasury, cash flow, and accounts payable functions.
- Maintain and improve all procedures and controls related to the company's financial accounts.
- Own trip-level cost accrual and profitability reporting, in partnership with the operations team, creating visibility into margin by trip and by segment.
- Own intercompany elimination and consolidation logic between B&R Inc. (Canada, USD) and B&R France (EUR).
- Maintain TICO trust reporting and reserve compliance as part of the core control environment.
