Banquet Porter is responsible for providing optimal service to exceed client expectations. As a member of the Banquet Porter team, the role includes execution of all banquet setups, refreshments, and cleaning as per Banquet Event Order. Also responsible for the service of all coffee breaks and cold food functions where there are 50 guests or less. The Banquet Porter performs duties as assigned by the Banquet Supervisors and Director of Food and Beverage as per the established standard operating procedures.
TypicalDuties
- Knows and observes objectives, policies, standards, and procedures as set forth by the Banquet Supervisors and Management.
- Provides the highest standards of service, taking orders and performing the tasks assigned.
- Ensures that mise-en-place for all menus are accurate and set in a timely fashion when food service is required.
- Accurately and with attention to detail follows floor plans and Banquet Event Order set-ups.
- Ensures that food for catering event orders is prepared to specified quality standards and appropriate quantities.
- Maintains back storage rooms and ensures a clean, safe environment.
- Reports any broken or unsafe equipment to Banquet Supervisors.
- Abides by all employee handbook standards.
- Remains alert, courteous and helpful to the guest at all times.
- Performs all other duties as requested.
Education:
- High School diploma or GED
- Valid Food Safety Training Certificate
Experience:
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a high volume service environment.
Other:
- Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently, adhering to University of Toronto objectives, policies, standards and procedures.
