VA Leaside, where you will oversee the day‑to‑day operations of the housekeeping and laundry departments. The role requires a strong commitment to customer service excellence, cleanliness, safety, and hospitality.

Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, organize, supervise, and support the daily operations of the housekeeping and laundry departments.
- Lead, coach, support, onboard, train, and develop housekeeping and laundry team members.
- Create and manage schedules, assignments, attendance, and departmental coverage to meet operational needs.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure cleanliness and service standards are consistently achieved.
- Complete departmental audits and monitor compliance with V!
VA policies, procedures, and safety standards. - Monitor inventory, equipment, and supplies, and coordinate orders as required.
- Ensure housekeeping and laundry services are delivered in accordance with established operational, infection prevention, and customer service standards.
- Ensure suites, common areas, dining venues, and back‑of‑house areas are maintained to V!
VA standards. - Coordinate suite turnovers and move‑in readiness in collaboration with the Move‑In Coordinator and other departments.
- Ensure infection prevention and control practices are followed and enhanced during outbreaks when required.
- Maintain departmental records, checklists, and compliance requirements.
- Maintain accurate health and safety records and ensure MSDS information remains current and accessible.
- Identify and report maintenance, safety, and environmental concerns.
- Foster positive relationships with community members, guests, families, and team members.
- Support emergency response procedures and assume a leadership role during fire alarms, evacuations, and other emergency situations when required.
- Promote a culture of health and safety and support emergency preparedness procedures.
- Participate in community meetings, training, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Other duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in housekeeping operations within retirement living, hospitality, healthcare, or a related environment.
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience, preferably within retirement living, hospitality, healthcare, or a related environment.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational, problem‑solving, and time‑management abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to promote a positive, customer‑service‑focused culture.
- Ability to lead, motivate, coach, and develop team members.
- Knowledge of cleaning procedures, laundry operations, infection prevention and control practices, and health and safety standards.
- Ability to communicate clearly with peers and subordinates.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Valid CPR/First Aid certification is considered an asset.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and statutory holidays.
- Available for call‑ins and emergency coverage when required.
- Able to bend, stretch, sit, stand, and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Able to effectively communicate in verbal and written English.
