Event Setup - Porter

The National Club is seeking a reliable, hands-on, and service-oriented Porter to support the day-to-day operation of the Club and the execution of meetings, private functions, and special events.

The Porter is primarily responsible for setting up, breaking down, and resetting event and function spaces, including moving and arranging tables, chairs, furniture, and event equipment. This position also provides general operational support throughout the Club, including organizing storage areas, receiving and distributing deliveries, and assisting with minor maintenance and upkeep.

Key Responsibilities:

• Set up and break down meeting rooms, dining rooms, private functions, receptions, and Club events according to event requirements and floor plans.
• Move, arrange, and safely store tables, chairs, furniture, podiums, coat racks, staging, and other event equipment.
• Ensure function spaces are clean, organized, properly set, and presentation-ready before events.
• Reset rooms following events and assist with quick room turnovers between meetings, dining service, and functions.
• Assist the Catering and Food & Beverage teams with transporting equipment, supplies, linens, glassware, china, and other event materials.
• Receive, move, and distribute deliveries and operational supplies throughout the Club.
• Maintain furniture, equipment, storage areas, and back-of-house spaces in a clean and organized condition.
• Assist with waste, recycling, minor maintenance, and general operational tasks as required.
• Identify and report damaged equipment, furniture, fixtures, or potential safety concerns.
• Work collaboratively with Food & Beverage, Catering, Housekeeping, and Clubhouse Operations to ensure Club spaces are ready for members and guests.
  
  Qualitications:
  
• Previous experience in hospitality, events, banquets, facilities, building operations, or a similar hands-on role is considered an asset.
• Reliable, punctual, and dependable with a strong work ethic.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to follow floor plans, event setup instructions, and direction from supervisors.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with multiple Club departments.
• Professional and respectful when working in member and guest areas.
• Willingness to take initiative and assist with operational needs as required.
• Basic knowledge of general maintenance, tools, or building operations is considered an asset.
• Commitment to maintaining a safe, clean, organized, and professional work environment.
  
  Job Requirements:
• Flexible availability, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays based on the Club's event and operational requirements.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout a shift.
• Ability to regularly lift, carry, push, and pull furniture, equipment, and supplies.
• Ability to safely move tables, chairs, and other event furniture independently or with assistance when appropriate.
• Ability to regularly bend, reach, kneel, and perform repetitive physical tasks.
• Ability to safely use carts, dollies, and other equipment when transporting furniture and supplies.
• Comfortable working throughout both member-facing and back-of-house areas of the Club.
