The People Team at Open Table focuses on building simple, scalable, and globally consistent People Operations. Our goal is to ensure strong HR fundamentals while continuously improving processes, systems, and employee experience across markets.
This role plays a key part in maintaining operational stability while supporting the delivery of defined People Operations initiatives throughout 2026.
Open Table is seeking a Manager, HR Operations for a 12-month maternity leave cover. This role combines hands-on operational leadership with ownership of high-impact people operations projects. The position oversees global day-to-day people operations, leads the Global People Operations Services team, drives improvements across systems, processes, and policies, and acts as a central liaison across key internal partners and external vendors.
The role works closely with the Senior Director, People Operations, through regular collaboration and alignment.
Own the day-to-day execution of People Operations across the employee lifecycle, including onboarding, job changes, offboarding, documentation, and data maintenance
Ensure People Ops processes are followed consistently across all markets, with a focus on accuracy, compliance, and employee experience
Act as an escalation point for complex or non-standard cases, applying root-cause analysis and looping in the Senior Director, People Operations when needed
Support the Global People Operations Services team by answering tickets and resolving employee and contractor inquiries through Zendesk
Be the main point of contact for our EOR Partner(s) and ensure all contracts and invoices are processed smoothly
Maintain service levels and operational hygiene during the coverage period
Drive delivery of assigned People Operations projects through structured planning, coordination, and execution
Partner cross-functionally with People Partners, People Systems, Payroll, IT, Legal, TA, and external vendors to move work forward
Maintain clear project timelines, dependencies, and status updates
Ensure progress continues even when priorities shift, escalating risks and blockers early
Onboarding process and systems improvements
Zendesk reporting, metrics, and intake optimization
Workday document management and self-service enhancements
Employee handbook, policy, and benefits reviews by market
Termination and severance process centralization
Background check framework updates across markets
RTO process and compliance support
People Operations analytics and dashboards
Cross-system alignment (Workday, Zendesk, Fresh service, Docu Sign, Greenhouse)
Partner with HR Systems and IT teams to maintain and improve Workday, Zendesk, and related tools
Perform regular audits of employee and HR transaction data to ensure accuracy and consistency
Identify opportunities for automation, standardization, and improved self-service
Own and maintain SOPs, process documentation, and People Ops knowledge base content
Work closely with the Senior Director, People Operations, providing regular updates on operational health, project progress, risks, and decision points
Proactively escalate issues or decisions that require additional context or support rather than operating in isolation
Serve as a reliable point of contact for People Partners and cross-functional stakeholders
Maintain clear documentation of processes, decisions, and project status throughout the contract
Ensure a structured and thorough handover at the end of the maternity leave cover, including documentation, open items, risks, and recommendations to support a smooth transition when the role holder returns
3-5 years of experience in leading People Operations / HR Operations
Hands-on experience using Workday as an end user
Experience supporting North American population
Experience working with HR ticketing systems (e.g., Zendesk)
Strong organizational and execution skills
Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Detail-oriented with a strong sense of ownership and follow-through
Able to work independently while knowing when to escalate
Experience supporting global or multi-market employee populations
Exposure to shared services models or HR process standardization
Experience working with external vendors (EOR, background checks, immigration providers)
There are a variety of factors that go into determining a salary range, including but not limited to external market benchmark data, geographic location, and years of experience sought/required. The range for this Canada located role is $135,000 - $145,000 CAD.
