Ferrovial Construction Canada Inc. and VINCI Construction Grands Projets are undertaking the design, build, and finance of the Ontario Line Southern Civil, Stations, and Tunnel (South Civil) package.

As Ontario Transit Group, we are now mobilizing our design and construction crews, with major works. The South Civil contract is anticipated to be completed in 2030.

The project will strengthen Ontario’s economy by supporting an estimated 1,500 jobs at the peak of construction.

What is the project?

  • A six-kilometer tunnel and associated tunnelling works from Exhibition to Don Yard portal (west of the Don River).
  • Stations:
    • One above-ground station to be integrated with the existing GO Transit Exhibition Station.
    • Two underground stations to be integrated with the existing TTC Osgoode and Queen subway stations.
    • Four new underground stations (King/Bathurst, Queen/Spadina, Moss Park, Corktown).

Job Description

The HR Coordinator plays a key role in supporting a positive employee experience by providing frontline union guidance, assisting staff and managers with policy interpretation, and maintaining strong awareness of workplace culture and engagement. This role leads new hire orientations, supports recruitment and onboarding for unionized staff, and contributes to the development and rollout of HR programs and initiatives.

The salary range for this position is $65,000 CAD - $75,000 CAD, plus additional benefits.

Key Responsibilities:

Union Staff Relations & HR Advisory Support

  • Maintain a strong pulse on employee engagement, satisfaction, and workplace culture, proactively identifying risks and opportunities.
  • Support employees by managing the general HR inbox and address HR‑related questions, concerns, and workplace issues with professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Champion and promote OTG’s values, diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, modeling expected behaviors across all interactions.

Talent Management, Onboarding & HR Program Support

  • Lead, schedule and facilitate new hire orientations, ensuring a welcoming, consistent, and high‑quality employee experience across sites.
  • Onboarding new employees into Bamboo HR HRIS while demonstrating tact and accuracy with inputting employment information including start date, pay, etc.
  • Assist the Talent Acquisition team with recruitment activities, candidate coordination, and ensuring a seamless onboarding process.
  • Support the development, implementation, and communication of new HR policies, programs, and departmental initiatives in collaboration with the HR Manager.
  • Coordinate and occasionally lead ad‑hoc HR projects, utilizing discretion, strong organizational skills, and advanced problem‑solving capabilities.
  • Assist the HR department with the delivery of a variety of company‑wide HR programs and procedures, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.

HR Operations, Records Management & Compliance

  • Administer and maintain accurate employee records, including compensation data, performance documentation, and personnel files.
  • Perform routine filing, scanning, archiving, and document management to support compliance with record retention requirements.
  • Update HR and leadership teams with key workforce information, including headcount changes, new hires, terminations, assets, and other relevant metrics.

Data Reporting, Analytics & HR Administration

  • Prepare, analyze, and present HR metrics, dashboards, and workforce analytics to the HR Manager and leadership teams to support data‑informed decision‑making.
