Summary/Objective
This position is responsible for managing a range of activities related to employee/labor relations and staffing functions for the company’s Canadian operations.
Essential Functions
- Partners with business leaders to support Park Lawn’s local, regional, and corporate objectives including, but not limited to employee relations, diversity, workforce planning, organizational development, performance management, staffing, employment practices, rewards and recognition, payroll, benefits, and succession planning.
- Responsible for all aspects of employee relations in assigned area of responsibility, including consultation, conflict resolution, coaching, disciplinary actions, appeals and working closely with management to resolve issues.
- Conducts internal investigations, document findings/recommendations in accordance with established policy and recommend resolutions to management.
- Represents organization in contract negotiations, meetings, and negotiations with employee and labor organizations.
- Collaborates with legal counsel and other departments in the preparation for labor negotiations and other employment related legal matters and responses.
- Assists management team with the execution of counseling and progressive discipline on performance/attendance issues.
- Develops and delivers employment related training as needed.
- Oversees payroll process for area of responsibility.
- Creates and maintains strong, positive relationship with employees at all levels of the organization.
- Works as a liaison for communication across all locations and keep the team in the loop on the implementation of HR strategies, programs, practices and issues.
- Works as a thought leader who challenges the status quo while providing strategic and tactical HR counsel to leadership.
- Manages, coordinates, and oversees all aspect of Human Resources procedures in compliance with Federal, Provincial and Local employment and related HR laws in areas such as AODA, ESA and Employment Legislation.

Required Education, Experience, Certifications and Licensure
- Post-Secondary education in human resource management or related field or equivalent level of experience, training, and education.
- Minimum five years of HR experience including extensive knowledge on employee relations preferred.
- Payroll and compensation experience
- Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) or other HR designation preferred.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
- Able to read, write and speak English fluently. Bilingual is a plus.
- Knowledge of immigration laws and processes.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office…
