About Rippling

Rippling gives businesses one place to run HR, IT, and Finance. It brings together all of the workforce systems that are normally scattered across a company, like payroll, expenses, benefits, and computers. For the first time ever, you can manage and automate every part of the employee lifecycle in a single system.

Take onboarding, for example. With Rippling, you can hire a new employee anywhere in the world and set up their payroll, corporate card, computer, benefits, and even third-party apps like Slack and Microsoft 365—all within 90 seconds.

Based in San Francisco, CA, Rippling has raised $1.4B+ from the world’s top investors—including Kleiner Perkins, Founders Fund, Sequoia, Greenoaks, and Bedrock—and was named one of America's best startup employers by Forbes.

We prioritize candidate safety. Please be aware that all official communication will only be sent from  addresses.

What is a Contractor of Record (COR)?

Contractor of Record (COR) enables companies to engage contractors globally without setting up local entities. Rippling provides the legal, operational, and compliance framework needed to manage contractors while mitigating misclassification risk and ensuring adherence to local labor and tax regulations.

About the Role

As a Contractor of Record (COR) HR Advisor, you’ll directly support Rippling’s Contractor of Record customers by advising on contractor engagement models, assessing misclassification risk, and guiding compliant work structures across multiple countries. This is a foundational role supporting the continued growth of COR, combining hands-on customer advisory work with opportunities to help refine and scale COR processes and standards.

You’ll partner closely with Legal, Compliance, Product, Payroll, and Engineering to translate legal research and internal guidance into clear, practical advice for customers and internal teams.

This role blends strategic thinking with hands-on execution and offers the opportunity to shape scalable, compliant global contractor operations.

You don’t need prior experience in every country we support—strong HR fundamentals, curiosity, and the ability to quickly learn new jurisdictions are key. You’ll be supported by internal experts, training, and documentation as you expand your global scope. What matters most is your ability to read, interpret, and apply legal and compliance guidance, proactively seek answers, and translate complex concepts into clear, practical advice.

What

you will do
  • Review contractor job descriptions, scopes of work, and engagement models to identify and mitigate misclassification and compliance risk
  • Interpret country-specific legal research and internal guidance to assess contractor eligibility and working arrangements
  • Advise clients on appropriate contractor boundaries, including time-off structures, supervision, and scope changes
  • Handle complex contractor-related cases with legal or regulatory implications
  • Partner closely with Legal, Compliance, Product, Payroll, and Engineering to improve COR workflows and controls
  • Act as a trusted advisor to clients by clearly explaining risk, tradeoffs, and compliant alternatives in an understandable way
  • Draft and maintain compliance-driven HR policies, SOPs, playbooks, and client-facing guidance
  • Create and contribute to internal and external resources (Help Center content, training materials)
  • Support audits, governance initiatives, and ongoing compliance reviews
  • Mentor and support other COR HR Advisors to drive consistency and quality as the program scales
What you will need
  • 5+ years of experience in HR advisory, HR consulting, compliance, or HR generalist roles
  • Strong understanding of contractor vs. employee classification and misclassification risk
  • Hands-on experience supporting or managing contractor relationships
  • Proven ability to interpret legal or regulatory guidance and apply it to practical scenarios
  • Strong research skills and a self-starter mindset—you’re comfortable digging through documentation, asking the right questions, and finding answers independently
  • Confidence advising clients and stakeholders, including explaining nuanced compliance topics clearly and pragmatically
  • Solid…
