Payroll & Benefits Manager

Location:
Downtown Toronto
Salary: $105,000 + Bonus & Benefits

An established Canadian organization seeks an experienced Payroll and Benefits Manager to oversee payroll operations and benefits administration for a national workforce. This is a great opportunity for a senior payroll professional ready to step into a leadership role and make a meaningful impact in a complex, multi-jurisdictional environment.
Key Responsibilities:

Oversee full-cycle payroll for employees across multiple provinces and entities (union/non-union, hourly/salaried).

Ensure payroll accuracy, compliance with legislation, and timely remittance of all third-party payments (e.g., CRA, unions, garnishments).

Manage payroll system data, GL postings, reconciliations, and ad hoc reporting.

Administer group benefits plans, lead annual renewals, and ensure compliance with policies and agreements.

Act as the go-to resource for payroll-related inquiries and liaise with Finance, HR, and Operations teams.

Prepare year-end payroll reconciliations, T4s, ROEs, and support budgeting efforts.

Maintain and enhance payroll procedures and documentation to support scale and efficiency.

Ideal Candidate:

5+ years of experience leading payroll operations.

Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) would be preferred, but it is unnecessary.

Strong experience with cloud-based payroll systems (Payworks preferred), not a must.

Prior experience in real estate or multi-residential property management is a strong asset.

Detail-oriented, analytical, and confident in managing multi-entity complexities.
