Canada’s National Capital - Ottawa and the St. Lawrence River, only a 30-minute drive along the Veterans Memorial Highway (416), to either destination.
Application:
The Municipality of North Grenville is seeking to fill the position of Human Resources Consultant – 12-month contract with the possibility of an extension, in the Human Resources Department.
Interested applicants may submit a cover letter and resume outlining qualification in confidence via email to Human Resources by Friday, February 26th, 2026, no later than4 p.m. EST.
Provide support and respond to HR inquiries from staff and frontlinemanagement and directs complex issues to the Director of Human Resources.
Implement HR programs, policies, procedures, and initiatives on a wide variety of topics, as directed by the Director of Human Resources.
Provide guidance and advice on the interpretation and application of HR policies and programs including workplace agreements, recruitment processes, salary administration, benefits, employee relations and training.
Lead management of employee relations issues including negotiations,investigations, discipline, and conflict resolutions, human rights, employment standards, disability and attendance management, and health and safety related issues.
Prepare templates for policies, procedures, employee letters, etc., under oversight of the Director of Human Resources.
Provide communication and training to management and staff related to HR programs and services.
Develop, maintain, and update all HR documents and employee resources(e.g. policies, organizational chart, procedures, resource materials, etc.).
Provide human resources communications support, including the drafting,editing and delivery of human resources related communications.
Work with external consultants regarding pay equity, job ratings, market checks, and other projects as required.
Strategy and Projects (20%)
Research topics, best practices, and monitor emerging trends; provide reports and recommendations for the development of HR policies and procedures while ensuring policy and legislative compliance.
Execute special projects on key people priorities, as directed by the Directorof Human Resources and informed by the Human Resources Strategy.
Compensation and Benefits (40%)
Create, update, and standardize job descriptions that accurately capture purpose, accountabilities, decision-making, qualifications, and competencies.
Facilitate role discovery (interviews, job shadowing, questionnaires) to clarify scope, responsibilities, and outcomes.
Ensure plain language, bias-reduced, accessible job documentation that aligns with organizational structure and workforce planning.
Maintain job description repository/version control and naming conventions.
Prepare roles for evaluation and coordinate evaluation logistics.
Apply the approved job evaluation methodology consistently.
Be considerate of internal equity considerations and compression risk.
Design and deliver training for leaders on how to write effective job descriptions.
Support change management to build trust and transparency in the jobreview process.
Track metrics and recommend process improvements.
Participate in market reviews and benchmarking.
Apply inclusive language guidelines and review jobs for potential systemic barriers.
Health, Safety, and Wellness (10%)
Provide advice to managers and supervisors regarding health and safety,employee leaves, disability management, return to work processes, and workplace accommodation.
Administer leaves and disability cases in alignment with all applicable legislation and policies.
Lead and coordinate the Municipality’s wellness initiatives and events to encourage a healthy workplace.
Work with the HR team to identify and deliver employee engagement opportunities.
