The Role – Own the Insight. Shape the Outcome

We’re looking for a Payroll Coordinator who will play a vital role in supporting payroll operations and benefits administration for Talize. You’ll assist with payroll preparation, employee data management, and system support, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. You will also support full-cycle bookkeeping functions for specific business areas as needed.

Availability requirements: The role requires flexible availability to meet business needs.

Pay Range:$26-$27 / hour

Contract Duration: 4-month contract with the possibility of an extension for up to 6 months.

9am to 5pm EST
- Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday

What You’ll Be Doing

Departmental Duties

  • Payroll Administration & Processing:
  • Administration of payroll and compensation programs (new hires, terminations, retroactive pay, leaves, etc.).
  • Verification and compilation of payroll data for timely processing.
  • Timely submission of accurate payroll data.
  • Resolution of payroll discrepancies and maintenance of accurate payroll accounts.
  • Employee Support & Benefits Administration:
  • Point of contact for all employee inquiries regarding pay, benefits, and time off.
  • Support in administering group benefits and retirement plans, including liaising with carriers.
  • Compliance, Reporting & Audits:
  • Compliance support for payroll, benefits, and legislative changes.
  • Reporting and data analytics related to payroll and benefits costs and trends.
  • Generation of payroll reports and audit materials for internal and external use.
  • Collaboration with the Payroll Manager for WSIB, CRA, and Service Canada audits.
  • Maintenance of confidentiality and data security in all payroll and HR processes.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration & Process Improvement:
  • Coordination with cross-functional teams to ensure data integrity and schedule adherence.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives in payroll systems and processes.

What You Bring

  • 0–2 years’ experience in payroll coordination and system administration support.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage confidential information and maintain professionalism.
  • Proficiency with payroll software (Ceridian Dayforce preferred).

Additional Requirements That Will Make You Stand Out

  • Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) designation – National Payroll Institute.
  • Post-secondary education in accounting or related field.
  • Knowledge of payroll legislation, tax, labour, and benefits regulations.
  • Customer service orientation and data analysis skills.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

  • Primarily office-based role with extended periods of computer-based work.
  • Requires prolonged sitting and frequent use of a keyboard, mouse, and standard office systems.
