Human Resources Manager – Toronto, Ontario & Long Island City, New York
Location:
Toronto, Ontario, Canada and Long Island City, New York, United States.
Employment Status:
Full‑time.
Travel requirement: 11‑25%.
Compensation: $95,000 – $110,000 CAD per year (base salary). Individual pay is determined by location, skills, experience, and other factors.
Reporting to the Director of HR for Operations, the Human Resources Manager partners closely with manufacturing and operations leaders to support multiple facilities across the U.S. and Canada, playing a critical role in workforce strategy, employee engagement, compliance, and operational excellence.

- Serve as a trusted HR business partner to plant and operations leadership, supporting performance across safety, quality, delivery, cost, and employee engagement.
- Lead and oversee HR activities across multiple manufacturing locations, ensuring compliance with federal and provincial labour laws.
- Drive workforce planning, staffing, employee relations, performance management, and talent development for salaried and hourly teams.
- Support organizational change initiatives (Lean, continuous improvement, acquisitions) with strong change‑management practices.
- Coach and develop site leadership and front‑line supervisors, providing guidance on people decisions and long‑term staffing strategies.
- Analyze HR metrics and workforce data to identify trends, root causes and actionable improvement plans.
- Lead succession planning, turnover management, training and leadership development initiatives to build a strong internal pipeline.
- Manage and develop HR team members, including Generalists and Recruitment/Special Projects roles.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field.
- 5+ years of progressive HR experience in a multi‑shift manufacturing environment, including leadership of HR staff.
- Broad knowledge across employee relations, staffing, compensation, benefits, compliance, and workforce management.
- Strong knowledge of Ontario Labour Standards; familiarity with U.S. federal employment laws is a plus.
- Proficiency with HRIS platforms such as Success Factors and Microsoft Office.
- Authorization to work in both Canada and the United States.
- Experience supporting multiple manufacturing sites across different regions or countries.
- Proven involvement in post‑acquisition HR integration or large‑scale organizational change initiatives.
- Advanced HR certifications such as SHRM‑CP, PHR, SPHR, or CHRP.
- A leadership style that combines approachability, credibility, and strong execution.
