Position Overview

The central objective of the Thrive (ER) team @Autodesk is to ensure treatment of employees is fair, respectful, and consistent with Autodesk’s policies, culture and core values. The Employee Relations Manager will provide employee relations and workplace investigation expertise, case management, and strategic consultation within the global ER function. The responsibilities for this role primarily focus on independently managing complex workplace investigations, conflict resolution, and employee relations consultation across the AMER Region.

The ER Manager will provide expert consultation and guidance on complex employee relations matters. Responsibilities include conducting impartial workplace investigations, assessing employee concerns, interpreting Company policy, advising on resolution strategies, and navigating sensitive employee relations situations while balancing business needs, employee experience, and organizational risk. A successful candidate must be comfortable operating independently with minimal day‑to‑day direction, exercising sound judgment in ambiguous situations, appropriately assessing organizational and legal risk, engaging relevant stakeholders as appropriate, and driving cases to timely resolution.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities for this role primarily focus on independently managing complex workplace investigations, conflict resolution, and employee relations consultation across the AMER Region.

  • Independently manage a high-volume, complex caseload of workplace investigations and employee relations matters, leading end-to-end investigations while maintaining high standards of quality, timeliness, documentation, and sound judgment
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to managers, employees, PPL Partners, Legal, and other stakeholders on sensitive employee relations issues
  • Partner with stakeholders as required to conduct thorough, impartial investigations, including planning, interviewing, evidence review, credibility assessments, documentation, and written findings to reach the best outcomes for our organization and employees
  • Interpret and apply understanding of corporate policies and practices, employment law, and other regulations to provide advice, guidance, or clarification for ER inquiries
  • Identify recurring themes and recommend practical improvements to policies, guidance, or manager resources based on investigation findings and employee relations trends
  • Maintain current and relevant knowledge in a variety of concepts, practices, procedures as well as legal updates associated with Human Resources and Employee Relations
  • Build strong working relationships within the Employee Relations team, proactively collaborating and seeking input to promote consistency, mitigate risk, and continuously improve decision-making
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor degree or equivalent; advanced degree and legal coursework preferred
  • Minimum 8 years of Employee Relations experience, including significant experience independently conducting complex workplace investigations or advising managers in a large, matrixed organization
  • Demonstrated expertise leading end-to-end workplace investigations, including interview planning, evidence evaluation, credibility assessments, documentation, and well-supported findings involving complex employee concerns, policy violations, interpersonal conflict, and misconduct
  • Experience partnering effectively with Legal, HR, Compliance, and business leaders while maintaining neutrality and confidentiality
  • Comfortable working with any level of employee or manager; have a knack for reading a situation and navigating sensitivities in order to find creative solutions to people issues
