Do you have a strong foundation in applying Human Resources best practices and interpreting policies and collective agreements? You are skilled at researching and documenting workplace and collective agreement issues with accuracy and precision, from drafting concise communications to maintaining organized records. Whether addressing employee concerns, supporting investigations and collective bargaining your attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities ensure effective and compliant outcomes.

You are adept at supporting a variety of employee and labour relations processes through effective planning and coordination. When conducting investigations, you bring structure and clarity to ensure thorough and transparent outcomes. You are proactive in understanding the priorities of the team, managing the logistics of meetings and committees by scheduling, distributing materials, and tracking action items to ensure timely follow-up.

You can support the collective bargaining process through preparing and tracking materials in an organized manner. Your ability to handle multiple responsibilities and ensure everything runs smoothly makes you a key contributor to the team's success in delivering efficient and effective employee relations outcomes.

About the Employee and Labour Relations team:

The Employee and Labour Relations team at Sinai Health plays a critical role in managing the complexities of labour relations within a large, multi-hospital environment, supporting a diverse workforce of 5,000 employees across Mount Sinai Hospital and Hennick Bridgepoint Hospital. With responsibility for ten bargaining units and approximately 3,000 unionized employees, we help maintain a positive and productive workplace culture that upholds the values of respect, fairness, and compliance.

In

this role you will:
  • Build relationships with stakeholders and team with the HR Manager, staff and department leaders on employee and labour relations inquiries
  • Support the accurate and timely interpretation and application of applicable legislation, policies, procedures, collective agreements.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate employee and labour relations issues; refer complex inquiries to appropriate HR team members as appropriate
  • Conduct investigations into issues as directed, including participating in fact-finding meetings, preparing interview questionnaires, and preparing reports and related correspondence
  • Organize and support employee and labour relations meetings, including scheduling, preparing materials, and tracking follow-up actions
  • Maintain a variety of employee and labour relations files (e.g. incidents, investigations, grievances, etc.) with a high degree of accuracy and promptness; compile, maintain and support the tracking and reporting on relevant departmental information and metrics
  • Research employee and labour relations issues to support issue resolution as assigned; create case file chronologies, generate and analyze data, create reports and summaries
