JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the Director of Workforce Development, the Job Developer is responsible for recruiting and engaging participants for Workforce Development programs, developing and maintaining a strong candidate pipeline, supporting career readiness and employability, and connecting qualified candidates with employment and training opportunities. The role also supports employer engagement activities, program promotion, participant intake, and achievement of program performance targets.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Support team in employer outreach and follow-up to identify new job opportunities.
Recruit and promote Workforce Development programs, Bootcamps, webinars, and Essential Employability Skills Workshops through community outreach, networking, and targeted recruitment efforts.
Conduct outreach to new and existing participants of Workforce Development Programs.
Create and manage registration links for Bootcamps, webinars, and Essential Employability Skills Workshops, ensuring registration systems are accurate, accessible, and functioning effectively.
Manage participant registrations, candidate intake processes, and maintain accurate applicant records.
Generate job leads, market participating clients to employers, and advocate on clients' behalf to support employment outcomes.
Assist in sourcing candidates through various channels based on program requirements, pre-screening candidates for Workforce Development and Bootcamp programs.
Screen, assess, and shortlist candidates for program entry, evaluating skills, qualifications, and program suitability.
Support the recruitment process by conducting interviews, assessing candidates' skills and qualifications, and matching them with suitable job opportunities.
Provide initial career coaching, employability guidance, and resume support to program participants to enhance job readiness.
Build and maintain a strong pipeline of qualified candidates and facilitate seamless transitions to appropriate program staff and employment services.
Support participants with technology platforms used for skills assessment, training, and professional development.
Collaborate closely with the Events Coordinator to support Bootcamp delivery, participant engagement, and attendance targets.
Collaborate with the Marketing team to support promotion and recruitment efforts for Workforce Development programs and Bootcamps.
Monitor applications received by email, reviewing demographics and qualifications, identifying suitable candidates, and coordinating communications related to program participation.
Communicate with applicants by phone, email, and other channels to confirm attendance, provide program information, gather feedback, and distribute surveys.
Attend job fairs, community events, webinars, workshops, and Bootcamps to promote organizational services, recruit participants, and support positive client outcomes.
Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date records, files, and databases while managing reporting expectations and submitting accurate and timely reports as required.
Contribute to achieving program goals and KPIs through participant recruitment, employer engagement, referral network development, and successful client outcomes.
Maintain and document participant success stories to support Ministry reporting requirements and program performance outcomes.
Attend, participate in, and collaborate during internal and external meetings, both virtually and in person, as required.
Present information clearly and concisely, even in high-pressure situations.
Navigate formal and informal communication channels with professionalism and discretion.
Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Post-secondary education in Business, Human Resources or equivalent required.
Additional formal education in job development and pre-employment skills development is strongly preferred.
2-3 years of experience in managing business relationships, human resources, career outreach, recruitment, employer liaison, or similar role required.
Experience achieving targets in an outcome-based, funded program, preferred.
Experience in a position where cold-calling was necessary, strongly preferred.
Knowledge of the Skilled Trades Industry and the Ontario Apprenticeship pathway, nice to have
Experience working with adult education, employment and training sectors, nice to have
Knowledge of potential employment trends/developments in the Construction, Industrial, Motive-Power considered an asset but not mandatory
Familiarity with the workings of a not-for-profit organization, an asset but not mandatory.
