You’ll be part of a team of over 200 employees across 5 offices, including Toronto, Mississauga, Aurora, Ottawa, and Calgary. You will independently carry a case load of litigation files, from start to finish, involving the defense of tort and/or auto accident benefits claims, including priority disputes and loss transfer. Independently carry a case load of files, from start to finish (which may include CAT files, when appropriate)
Draft opinions, pleadings, and related materials
Attend case conferences pre-arbitrations and mediations
Conduct private arbitrations and License Appeal Tribunal (LAT) Hearings
Assume carriage of and responsibility for the delivery of cost effective and efficient resolutions of disputed claims

What you bring to the table
Bachelor's degree or Juris doctor, Laws or in a related field
A minimum of seven years of relevant experience with at least 5 years in Accident Benefits litigation or Accident Benefits and Bodily Injury (Tort)
Please note that other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered
Experience in Accident Benefits OR Experience with Accident Benefits and Bodily Injury (Tort)
Experience with trials and/or arbitrations
Member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario
Intermediate knowledge of handling CAT files (AB only handling)
Trade Union (If applicable)
