Later is searching for a brilliant legal mind to join its small but mighty legal team. Reporting to the VP, Legal, this is an exciting opportunity to be a key member of a scaling in-house legal department. The ideal candidate will be a business person first and a lawyer second, with a proactive and practical approach to problem solving. We are looking for someone who is not only technically proficient but also able to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
What you'll be doing:
Provide practical legal advice on a wide range of legal issues impacting the company, including commercial contracting, intellectual property, employment, privacy, product development, and marketingCollaborate with sales and customer support teams to review, interpret, draft, revise, and negotiate customer contracts within acceptable risk tolerance and company guidelinesSupport influencer-facing teams with matters related to influencer content, contracts, and other related mattersReview, interpret, draft, revise, and negotiate vendor contractsSupport the company on privacy matters, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulationsSupport up-leveling legal education in the organizationQualifications:
JD with 3-5 years of experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex commercial contracts (NDAs, SAAS Agreements, SOWs, services agreements, etc.)Experience in corporate law and other related practice areasIn-house counsel experience at a B2B SAAS business is strongly preferredLicensed to practice law and in good standing in one of the following jurisdictions Ontario and British ColumbiaAbility to assess and advise on complex contractual issues in a concise and business-minded mannerComfortable working in a fast-paced technology environment, actioning efficiently, and managing multiple competing prioritiesExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsExperience effectively communicating with all levels of an organizationExperience working cross-functionally with multiple stakeholders on diverse projectsStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsBonus points for:

We take a market-based & data-driven approach to compensation. We leverage data from trusted third-party compensation sources to help us understand the market value of a role based on function, level, geographic location, and scope. We evaluate compensation bi-annually, including performance and market-related factors.
Our salaries are benchmarked against market Total Cash Compensation for the geographic location of our job posting. Compensation for some roles is structured as On Target Earnings (OTE = base + commission/variable) while for others it is structured as Salary only.
To comply with local legislation and ensure transparency, we share salary ranges on all job postings. Skills, experience and other factors help determine the final salary we offer which may vary from the original range posted.
Additionally, all permanent team members are granted stock options and are eligible to participate in various benefits plans as part of their overall compensation package.
Salary Range:
$120,000-$135,000 CAD

We hire into our hub cities of Boston, MA;
Vancouver, BC;
Toronto, ON. We also have team members based remotely for select positions. We post our positions in the hub location(s) where we are open to having the successful candidate be located.
