Forge Recruitment is conducting a search on behalf of a well-established, respected Toronto law firm for an experienced Real Estate Law Clerk / Conveyancer to join its busy and sophisticated real estate practice.
About the Role
In this role, you will work closely with real estate lawyers and clerks on title-intensive files. You will play a lead role in searching, analysis, and preparation of title documentation for registrations and related legal deliverables.
• Conducting comprehensive title searches in both Land Titles and Registry systems, including 40-year searches and preparation of detailed title summaries
• Navigating and utilizing Teraview to:
perform title searches
create, prepare and submit title documents for registration
view and retrieve instruments, plans, and parcel registers
complete writ searches and related due diligence
• Using ONLAND to obtain and review historical title materials, including:locating abstracts and historical data
requesting LRO pre-approvals where required
handling non-converted data retention reports
supporting PIN corrections and similar title issues
• Confirming legal descriptions and supporting complex search matters, including:plotting and interpreting metes and bounds descriptions
identifying, analyzing and plotting easements and rights of way
• Completing related search and due diligence work, including:expropriation-related searches
construction lien searches
leasing and property interest searches
estate-related searches as required
• Preparing and assembling title documentation and search materials for lawyer review
• Other related administrative and clerking duties as required in support of the practice
• Target salary range: $90,000 – $110,000, commensurate with skills and experience
• Strong overall package and an environment that supports long-term growth
• Completion of ILCO Real Estate Law Clerk Fellowship or a recognized Ontario Law Clerk diploma or certificate
OR significant comparable experience, including longstanding conveyancing experience
• Proven hands-on expertise using Teraview and ONLAND
• Strong knowledge of real estate title searching, land registration systems, and supporting documentation
• Proficiency using MS Office 365 and legal software tools
• Strong understanding of legal terminology and documentation standards
