Our Legal and Regulatory team is seeking an experienced and talented lawyer to join our litigation team, specializing in class actions. You will work in a dynamic and collaborative environment, working closely with colleagues across Canada. You will be required to manage a large volume of complex cases and provide strategic legal advice to various business units of Bell and its subsidiaries.
Key Responsibilities
Managing and overseeing a diverse portfolio of complex cases, including class actions, commercial litigation and arbitration, and disputes involving other telecommunications companies (potentially including issues related to Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) regulations).
Collaborating closely with external firms to ensure effective and strategic case management
Analyzing and assessing the legal risks associated with litigation and proposing pragmatic and innovative solutions.
Providing proactive and strategic legal advice to internal teams on a variety of issues, including consumer law, contract law, real estate law, civil liability (personal injury, property damage), defamation and privacy
Drafting and revising legal documents, such as briefs and procedures
Actively participating in settlement negotiations, when necessary
Mastering the management of electronic and documentary evidence (eDiscovery)
Critical Qualifications
Minimum of 5 to 7 years of litigation experience, ideally in private practice (with experience in class actions) or in-house.
Court advocacy experience
Strong analytical skills and excellent ability to assess legal risks
Ability to effectively manage multiple files simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
Strong team spirit and ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
Motivated, creative, agile, and results-oriented
Leadership skills and ability to build strong relationships
Ability to manage difficult situations with professionalism, confidence and proactivity
Candidates must be bilingual in French and English
For work arrangements that are ‘Hybrid’, successful candidates must be based in Canada and report to a set Bell office for a minimum of 3 days a week. Recognizing the importance of work-life balance, Bell offers flexibility in work hours based on the business needs.
